Sennheiser Control Cockpit: 3rd party access and authentication
31 October 2023
This article explains the terms "3rd party access and authentication", an important feature of the Sennheiser Control Cockpit
The Sennheiser Control Cockpit is a central software designed for easy handling, control and maintenance of large microphone system installations. It provides a global overview of all network-enabled devices at any given time, displaying all status information at a glance. This real-time monitoring capability allows for rapid response to any potential issues, which enhances the reliability of the AV system and enables smooth digital workflows.
What are the benefits of 3rd party access and authentication?
In the Sennheiser Control Cockpit, 3rd party access for certain devices can be easily enabled by configuring a dedicated 3rd party password that can be shared for instance with an external 3rd party developer. This password is specifically created for authenticated 3rd party access and is not identical with the device password.
For improved security and full control over the used protocols, 3rd party access in the Sennheiser Control Cockpit is disabled by default and enabled only when needed. This allows organizations to define different authorization levels and decide which protocols are activated or deactivated. For example, a person with 3rd party access might have the right to change the LED settings of a ceiling mic but is not authorized to change network settings. Currently this feature is available for the TeamConnect Ceiling Medium and TC Bar Solutions (as of November 2023).
