Photokina 2018 – Meet the Future of Audio and Video
Microphone solutions from Sennheiser ensure perfect audio for video
Wedemark/Cologne, 6 September 2018 – At photokina in Cologne, Germany, which takes place from 26 to 29 September, Sennheiser will be showcasing high-quality audio solutions for video recordings. The audio specialist has its own stand at the fair and has a brand-new product on display: the wireless Memory Mic for smartphones enables journalists and content creators to produce videos with top-quality audio both quickly and easily. Sennheiser is also presenting the ideal products for recordings with DSLR cameras and camcorders, for example the evolution wireless G4 series, which offers perfect sound for even the most sophisticated video productions and raises the classical wireless system to an entirely new level. Visit Sennheiser in Hall 5.2/Stand G-30 and discover various microphone solutions for creating video content with smartphones, DSLR cameras and camcorders.
Creating videos today is simpler than ever before. Smartphones and DSLR cameras are now so advanced that they can make recordings with excellent video quality. But in many videos, the audio quality falls by the wayside, with the result that the audience is less impressed by the overall content. To solve this problem, Sennheiser has the ideal equipment in its product range to suit every requirement – whether it is for YouTube content creators, vloggers, professional film teams, amateur filmmakers or video journalists.

The perfect companion for smartphone film directors
Many people now use smart phones to create social media content. For these applications, Sennheiser offers a number of clever audio solutions, above all its new Memory Mic. This external wireless microphone works at any distance from a smartphone, provides excellent results and can easily be clipped to the speaker’s clothing. After the recording, a Sennheiser app automatically synchronises the audio and video tracks, while an audio mixer allows to set the perfect balance between the standard recording of the smartphone and the audio recording of the Memory Mic.
For mobile journalists, Sennheiser is also presenting its HANDMIC Digital at photokina. This sturdy dynamic microphone is ideally suited for interviews or podcasts in broadcast quality and can be quickly and easily connected to iOS devices, Macs or PCs.
The AMBEO SMART HEADSET rounds off Sennheiser’s portfolio of smartphone microphone solutions. This headset makes it possible to record iPhone and iPad videos with genuine 3D audio. To do this, the headset is simply connected to an iOS device and the videos are then recorded as usual using the camera app. Filmmakers can now capture the sounds of the world just as we hear and experience them.

Top-quality cameras – top-quality sound
The job of a videographer is a pretty demanding one. And for sophisticated productions, the video and audio have to be just perfect. The licence-free AVX wireless microphone system makes a videographer’s technical work a lot easier. For example, the ultra-compact receiver can be connected directly to a camera’s XLR audio input or to a DSLR camera using the mini-jack audio-in. The system automatically searches for free frequencies for audio transmission and, when matched with the camera, automatically adjusts the gain to the sound source. AVX is available in sets with a wireless microphone or bodypack transmitter or as a Combo Set.
An alternative are the evolution wireless G4 systems 100-p and 500-p: the UHF microphone systems provide wireless audio in the best broadcast quality for documentations, interviews and countless other applications.

Also on show at photokina are camera microphones from the MKE series. The MKE 600 is attached to the lighting shoe mount, while its highly directional characteristic and a low-cut filter minimise both extraneous noise from the side and wind noise. The MKE 440 stereo microphone is also fixed directly to the lighting shoe mount and provides balanced stereo sound in the direction in which the camera is focused.

The portfolio is rounded off by the MKE 1, Sennheiser’s smallest clip-on microphone – almost invisible, it provides natural sound and high speech intelligibility during broadcasting applications.
Sennheiser lecture on film recordings with perfect audio
Whether it is for wedding videos, vlogs or documentations: in an entertaining lecture, John McGregor from Sennheiser presents the best audio equipment for different recording scenarios and application areas. John McGregor was active for a long time as a sound engineer and lecturer in audio technology before joining the Sennheiser Sound Academy, where he works on subjects such as “Audio4Video” and others.
